Oh yes. There are two songs in particular that my DH loves that he is forbidden to play in my presence lest they torture me in an unending loop as I head to bed!
Beautiful. And amazingly accurate. Like yours, my own mother’s musical DNA was ingrained. Perhaps that’s why I frequently break out in song, especially show tunes she played almost daily. “Some Enchanted Evening” is a constant.
I think earworms can be both liked and disliked songs, and the former may become the latter the longer it plays on repeat in our heads! Thanks for the comment. :)
Looked at my reply & somehow mis-typed, probably by by me! Loved your post & just thinking how many times I’ve had ear worms & of songs I dislike🤣 Love your posts!!!!!!!
Fascinating, Susan. Some of the research describes how our brains continue to solidify memories through song snippets, even while we sleep. And, for some, the earworms keep them awake! Thanks for commenting.
Earworms! I give them to myself every time I play some recorded music....its in there rattling around in my head Forever (at least that's how it feels)!
Oh my goodness, thanks for the lesson on earworm.... I've had quite a few of those over the years... And I have actually sung or hummed other songs hoping to remove that nagging song from my brain.... Somehow or at least most of the time it goes away on its on... But I did hear 2 weeks ago a great rendition of "Chicago my kind of town"... And the earworm is alive and well.. I'm working hard now on a Queen song...
Hmmm - Queen. We will Rock You? Bohemian Rhapsody? We are the Champions? Hard to go wrong with them. Thanks for reading and commenting, Barry. As always.
Oh my goodness yes! I’m fascinated by the random selection of songs I wake up with—already stuck there while I was sleeping. Never had any idea this was even a thing!
The songs we fixate on might be an indicator of something important. My mom held onto Chopin and show tunes, while I latched onto camp songs and commercials. LOL! Thanks for reading and commenting, Bonnie. :)
Loved it!
Tom
Thanks, Tom! :)

I even awaken with a song that then will stay with me all day!

I guess music is better than some more negative "sound track," but wow - you are quite the 'worm magnet. :) Thanks for the comment, Melody.
