Elizabeth. I am grateful you are here and sharing your soul. That poem has me weeping - joy and sorrow. The photo of your lovely Nancy. Your words. All piercing in just the right way. It's so vulnerable; but it is so good. Peace, my friend.
I've held that poem in my heart since first reading it, even before it took on a more complex meaning. It's just wonderful. Thank you for your generous words, Courtney. All of them.
Inspiring.. What a wonderful poem, and yet tragic ending, concerning your friend. at the end of your post.. You've made many of my days wonderful and you've brought many people closer with your smile ,your kindness, and your talents.. I'm not sure that one has to be a great writer to write... All I know is that you have the gift of turning words into flowers that have aromas of mercy, joy and love..Thank you!
I really like the paragraph quoted below. And also the way you refer to suicide…”lost her life to suicide”. Such a kind and respectful way to look at suicide.
“Most importantly, though, I believe we are building community through shared stories and common cause. My intent is not to change the world. But, I’m on fire for the idea of bringing people toward conversations they didn’t know they wanted to have, and for the possibilities that reveal themselves among kindred spirits.”
Some day, if I can work the feelings into the right words, I might dedicate an entire piece to that topic, Darrell. As you note, it deserves much kindness and respect. Thank you, sincerely, for being part of this community.

Please, keep doing what you are doing. Sometimes I learn something new, sometimes I laugh out loud, and always, I look forward to the next one.
Speaking of making someone smile -- thank you so much, Mary!
Your storytelling puts me in a warm and happy frame of mind to approach the day. Thanks so much. I think you are "nothing short of a winner".
Tom
,
I might be blushing a little. So grateful, Tom (and Linda).

"...turning words into flowers..." What a thoughtful phrase. I will cherish that, Barry, and am always so honored by your support.
Happy Birth Day! It has been such a joy to experience your writing. Thank you for sharing your words.
Equal joy in having you as part of my world, Roe. Big ol' hugs to you!!

I've come to Chicken Scratch by way of Ramona Grigg on Writer Everlasting and on the first paragraph, I knew I had 'met' a kindred spirit.
I'm so looking forward to this journey. Thank you.
Ramona is an inspiration! Good to have you here, Prue!
