When I put it on my calendar, it looked like a grocery reminder, except that I lean toward seasonally fresh herbs. This time of year, I’m using sage, rosemary, and copious quantities of the cilantro that overwintered in my garden and is now doing a bang-up impression of a small shrubbery.
Betsy, get a dog of your own! Trust me, your OWN canine will enrich your lives beyond measure. Loved reading sbout Basil. What a beauty, and well-mannered to boot!
Just finished reading about Basil and now can’t stop crying. I’m snuggling with my 2 pups right now and can’t imagine not having them with us. I bet Basil is missing you both. Your writing is such a gift Elizabeth… I look forward to each one. Thank you!😘
Oh, how I love to find your essays waiting for me in my inbox. Now weeping as I read your tribute to Basil, I hope you all will share your doggie love with another dog in need of a home.
Sweet Basil. I feel like I know him. And your beautiful story brought tears to my eyes.Isn’t it amazing how quickly you adapted to (and became attached to) your unexpected house guest. What a gift! I’m sure he’s missing you too.
Thank you for more words of wisdom, Elizabeth. I will try to give the same benefit to humans as I do with my cat. It's harder than it seems. I am already judging.💖

Thanks, C. He's a special dog. One day, maybe, we'll find one similar, but for now it seems a distant possibility. :)
Oh what a beautiful doggie
He has a way with people, for sure. :)

Thanks, Diana. Snuggle your two a little extra for me. <3

Thank you, Roe. Perhaps that doggie will find us some day.

Unexpectedly besotted, for sure. Here's hoping he forgives us. Haha!
Here's to all of us making a little space, showing a little grace, and taking things less personally :)
It's something to aim for, right? :) Thanks for the comment, Maggie.
Elizabeth: I LOVE your stories. Your lyrical words and poignant anecdotes are delightful. And that title… basil leaves…what can I say
Thank you for such a kind comment, Valerie. I'm glad you are enjoying being part of this community! <3
Sweet Basil! Dogs give us so much, so freely, as do you with your beautiful prose. ❤️

More question than wisdom. I certainly don't have it figured out! Thanks for the comment, Barbara. <3
